Wednesday Portrait

Sorry for the delay in the post today.  Having some trouble connecting to the hotel’s internet…

Today’s portrait is of my new friend Robert “Bob” Smith.  Bob is a painter and has been all of his life.  He’s not just a guy who happens to paint, he’s making a living as a painter.  I met him last week while walking around Lancaster.  He had some interesting stories about life and the choices he has had to make for the sake of his art.  I loved talking to him at length and he introduced me to a couple that happen to own a gallery.  They are both artists as well.  After a brief discussion over coffee, we all went our separate ways.  But, new friends were made and it was a lot of fun!

Bob hates getting his picture taken, so he’s a very gracious man.  When he has had shows for his paintings, the local newspaper or regional arts magazine would always send someone to take his picture.  He’d always allow them, but always told him he’d prefer that they show only his paintings… they never did.  The next time I see Bob, I’ll ask to go see his paintings so I can take a few pictures of them!  I could find only a couple of his paintings online in a local publication.  It is a PDF and takes a little bit to load; there are two paintings of two woman on page 2.

Thank-you Bob!  Hope to see you again soon.
